Family Home Evening

We had trouble singing a song together as a family tonight during family home evening (not unlike every time we try ;). So we worked to try an get those members who were not in the mood through various means of gentle persuasion. Then we prayed that Gavin could have a good attitude about singing and stop being a total pain. And then we read in our children's doctrine and covenants stories about how when righteous people sing, their songs are like a prayer to the Lord and that Jesus wants everyone to sing. A coincidence that we read that right after asking the Lord for help? I think not. Of course Maegan almost starts crying and then tries to wet willy me when I type this cause she is a total pain - bless her heart. Of course we didn't look for this story it was just the next story (Maegan wants us to be clear on this point that it was a direct and immediate tender mercy from the Lord). You might be able to tell the mood I'm in right writing this for the family. Anyways, another fun filled FHE.

Dear Birth Parents,

We send our love and prayers to you at this trying time. We commend you on your desire to give this child the best possible home. Thank you for your time and hard work. We knew even before we married that someday to complete our family we would adopt. Your role is important and impressive to us, because your are the link that completes our family forever.
My wife is the greatest mom on the planet. She works hard to nurture and teach the children through understanding, a patient example, and a genuine effort to understand how to best help each of our children find success and build self-esteem. She truly is the heart of our home. She is always looking for ways to help friends and strangers alike, and delights in the service of others. Beautiful, inside and out (partly due to the amazing chocolate and vegetable diet she follows faithfully– it’s going to be huge, as soon as I can get her to write the how-to book), I feel blessed to have a companion that not only loves the outdoors, camping, travel, beating her husband at running, and spending time with her family, but also truly loves the Lord and strives each day to follow his example.
My Husband is a tender loving person. He is a great listener and works hard to give his family many luxuries of life. He enjoys playing and being silly with our children. He adds such a light hearted fun feeling to our family. Helping everyone turn a frown into a smile!!! His hobbies are many and enjoys them best with his family. Running, biking, rollerblading, hiking, soccer, drawing, Lego's, lots of Lego's, games, singing, acting, just being silly!!! Hal loves our Savior Jesus Christ and daily helps our family to be more like Jesus through example and teaching. He is a talented architect and enjoys being good at it, this is evident in his progress to successfully become owner.
Our marriage began with an eternal view and has only become stronger in that path. We fell in love more than 11 years ago and feel our love has grown stronger through working and playing together. We believe that many of the most important things in life take time effort and teamwork to achieve. This is a theme our marriage has lived by. We enjoy running, hiking, rollerblading, camping, singing and much more. Couples prayer is and integral part of our marriage, this we believe is an important part of keeping our eternal view.
We believe that family is central to our Heavenly Fathers eternal plan for us and our happiness. We feel that it is our responsibility to love care for each other and our children. We will do all we can to bring up our children in love and righteousness. Some of the ways we accomplish this is through family home evening, family scripture study and prayer. We are actively engaged in our callings at church helping serve others and allowing our family to serve others together. We know that as the gospel is thought in our home the spirit helps to teach our children in ways we cannot do our selves. This has and will be a rock of our family growth.
Gavin is seven years old and a true big brother. He loves to help and teach his siblings the many things he knows. He is energetic and happy. He is an excellent student the performs above his age.
Aidan is six and the most loving affectionate brother, sometimes giving to many hugs (if that is possible). He is much focused when learning and try’s to learn before leaping.
Clara is our only daughter she is two years. She enjoys her brothers so much and is sad when they are at school. We know her sister our daughter is missing.
We believe there are consequences for actions good and bad. We will help not only to foster harmony and love but also to prepare our children for life by teaching them that each action has a consequence. We feel that it is through love and understanding that the best lessons are taught. Confidence in making right choices is a great armor against negative consequences. We feel so strongly that with the Lord on our side we will be guided with each individual child's personal differences in helping them gain their eternal happiness.
We are blessed to be a single income family. It provides Maegan the ability to focus her time and energy in nurturing our children. This is such a blessing and is important to our family.
Our hearts are filled with excitement to communicate with you through letters, email, live chat, and pictures. We know we can provide a safe, loving, and caring gospel centered home.

With love
The Hal and Maegan Family
